Questions people ask
How is a tool put into a category?
By what the tool is for, not what it is built with. A tool can sit in more than one category when it genuinely serves both, but we would rather place it in the one narrow category people actually browse than in four broad ones.
What is the difference between a category and a tag?
A category says what a tool does: developer tools, design, analytics. A tag says something about how it is made or sold, such as open source, self-hosted or free tier. You can browse by either.
Can I suggest a tool that is missing?
Yes, and you do not have to be its maker. Submitting takes a couple of minutes, and we check the tool is real and working before it goes up.
How are tools ordered inside a category?
Newest first by default, with sorting available on every category page. Position is not for sale: a featured placement is labelled as featured wherever it appears.
