The tool that proves open source can win outright rather than merely substitute. Bitwarden does everything a paid password manager does, syncs across every platform, has been through independent security audits, and its free tier includes unlimited passwords on unlimited devices, which the commercial competition does not offer. When the code that protects every account you own can be inspected by anyone, that is a real argument rather than an ideological one.
The apps are slightly less polished than 1Password's and the sharing features aim at teams rather than families. Neither is a reason to pay ten times more. You can also self-host the server if you want the vault on your own hardware, which almost nobody needs and some organisations require. See the best password managers guide for how it compares against the paid options.
