Manus

Autonomous agent that plans and works through a whole task in the background, returning a finished deliverable.

One of the tools that made "autonomous agent" a mainstream idea. Give Manus a goal and it plans the steps, works through them in the background across the web and a set of tools, and comes back with a finished deliverable such as a report, a site or a dataset, checking in less than a chat assistant would.

That independence is the draw and the caveat: it can take a while, spend credits on the way, and occasionally go down a wrong path, so it suits tasks you can hand off and verify rather than steer live. For genuinely hands-off work, it is one of the furthest along.

Pros

  • Plans and works through a whole task in the background
  • Returns a finished report, site or dataset
  • Checks in far less than a chat assistant
  • One of the furthest along on hands-off work

Cons

  • Can take a long time on one task
  • Spends credits as it goes
  • Occasionally goes down a wrong path unattended
