Proton Pass

Privacy-focused password manager from the Proton team, open source and bundled with their wider encrypted suite.

The pick if privacy is the priority. Proton Pass comes from the maker of Proton Mail, is open source and end-to-end encrypted, and includes hide-my-email aliases so you can hand out a different address to every site. A capable free tier makes it easy to start.

It is newer than the incumbents, so a few advanced features are still catching up, but if you already use Proton's mail or VPN it folds neatly into one subscription and one trusted company.

Pros

  • Open source and end-to-end encrypted
  • Hide-my-email aliases built in
  • From a company whose business is privacy
  • Capable free tier

Cons

  • Newer than the incumbents
  • A few advanced features still catching up
  • Best value only if you use other Proton products
