Salesforce

The most powerful and most configurable CRM, built for large sales organisations with the budget and staff to run it.

The heavyweight, and still the standard that enterprise sales teams are measured against. Given the budget and someone to configure it, Salesforce bends to almost any process, and its AppExchange marketplace has an integration for practically every other tool a company runs.

That power is also the warning. It is expensive, genuinely complex, and usually needs an admin or a consultant to set up and maintain, which makes it overkill for a small team. Choose it when your process is intricate enough that simpler tools have started to break, not before.

Pros

  • Bends to almost any sales process
  • AppExchange integrates with practically everything
  • The standard enterprise teams are measured against
  • Scales to very large organisations

Cons

  • Expensive, especially at enterprise tiers
  • Genuinely complex to configure
  • Usually needs an admin or consultant to run
