Quietly excellent, and for most Apple users all the note app they need. Apple Notes is free, instant to open, syncs across every Apple device through iCloud, and now handles quick formatting, checklists, scanned documents, links and even Apple Pencil handwriting on iPad. There is nothing to set up because it is already there.
It does not cross fully to Windows or Android, and it lacks the databases of Notion or the linking of Obsidian. But for fast, reliable notes with zero effort, the app you already own is hard to beat.
